Nasir Rana, M.D. MPH has devoted more than 25 years of his professional life to
academic medicine and clinical practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility (RE/I). Dr. Rana obtained his early medical education at King Edward Medical College,
Lahore, Pakistan in 1969 and a Masters in Public Health with emphasis on women's health
care, from the University of Illinois in 1976. He received his residency training in Obstetrics
and Gynecology at Cook County Hospital, Chicago, one of the prestigious and leading
institutions of medical learning in the country. He then proceeded to complete a
postgraduate research fellowship in the field of RE/I at Rush University/Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital and Medical Center in
Dr. Rana is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology. He is also subspecialty
board-certified in RE/I. Dr. Rana is a Fellow of the
American College of Surgeons and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He
was awarded a certificate of special competence in the field of advanced Laparoscopic and
Hysteroscopic surgical procedures by the American Association of Gynecological
Laparoscopists. Over the years, Dr. Rana has lectured extensively on the issues dealing
with women's health. He and his colleagues have organized and participated in several
national and international seminars and workshops on Endometriosis, Infertility and
advanced Laparoscopic Gynecological procedures. Dr. Rana has authored or co-authored more
than 80 scientific articles in peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Rana has been associated with Dr. W. Paul Dmowski in the practice of RE/I for the last 20 years. Their professional affiliation started
when Dr. Rana joined Dr. Dmowski as a research fellow at Rush Medical School in 1983.
Currently, Dr. Rana is associated with Oak Brook Fertility Center and the Institute for
the Study and Treatment of Endometriosis both located in Oak Brook, a suburb of Chicago.
Dr. Rana provides a complete range of medical and surgical services in the field of
RE/I management including ART procedures (IVF, ET,
ICSI, AZH, MESA, TESA and Donor Oocyte), medical and surgical treatment of endometriosis,
pelvic pain syndrome, uterine fibroids, menstrual irregularities, and alternatives to
hysterectomy. Dr. Rana is associated with Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, and Oak Brook Medical and Surgical Centre. He is an active member of
American Society of Reproductive Medicine, American College
of Obstetricians and Gynecologist, American College of Surgeons, Society of Reproductive
Surgeons, Chicago Gynecological Society, Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists, Reserve
